3d leisure is proud to announce the recent renewal of its partnership with Cancer Research UK after smashing its previous fundraising targets.

The charity has been working in partnership with ScottishPower, whose PowerClub gymnasia are run by 3d Leisure, since 2012 and recently hit its incredible £6 million target. Having set a goal of £6 million to be raised within three years, ScottishPower beat their huge target through a series of fun charity challenges, from spin-a-thons to family face painting days.

3d Leisure’s Linda Clark-Gallacher, a PowerClub Manager at ScottishPower, has been working tirelessly to raise money for Cancer Research UK since the partnership first began. She says: “There are so many events that take place across ScottishPower and I am glad that I can be of help to raise as much money as I possibly can.”

“The girls who work with Cancer Research UK are fantastic. Some of the events that help raise this amount of money are Race for Life, Pretty Muddy, and We’ve Got Talent – where Peter Andre was a judge! The list is never ending.”

Among her painstaking challenges, Linda took part in a 100km spin session, inviting her colleagues and other PowerClub members to take the final distance to 200km.

Thanks to all of the team’s hard work, Cancer Research UK now has a new fundraising target for ScottishPower – £10 million by 2018. As a thank you for her fundraising efforts, the organisation has invited Linda to a formal lunch in the House of Commons, which will take place on 17th September. Linda added: “Over the last couple of years I have experienced how cancer affects people, so being invited to the House of Lords is an honour.”

3d Leisure’s PowerClubs have no qualms about reaching their next fundraising target – they’ve already made £7 million in the last three years alone, having beat their original goal last November with the aforementioned spin-a-thon. Now, with a new target, Linda and her team are looking forward to continuing their battle to beat the disease.

Cancer Research UK have extended their thanks to ScottishPower, saying: “We’d like to say a real thank you to people who are helping us to beat cancer sooner.”
