3d leisure, the leisure facility management company, has been awarded a contract to support the development and management of a new health club in Muscat Oman. Healthworld International, an Omani based company and distributors for Technogym and Pavigym were keen to create a high-end and niche Wellness Centre to be utilised not only as a health club but also as a showroom for the equipment range. The Centre will also offer a wide range of GX, functional and freestyle training and also Cryotherapy.

A potential site was identified at the lifestyle destination of choice within the Sultanate of Oman at an exclusive development called ‘The Wave” in the capital of Muscat. Based around a Marina the Wave will have around 4,000 homes and offers residents a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course and a mall with all the essential shops and restaurants along with a floor dedicated to wellness services.

3d were asked to complete a feasibility study to confirm the market potential and propose a  facility mix and service offer based on the Technogym principles of wellness programming and training.

Once the potential for membership was determined and a layout proposed Healthworld International secured the lease and appointed an interior architect and contractors.  The fit out is underway and the Wellness Centre will open in late July.

Healthworld International commented that “3d have been a real help establishing our finance model and assisting with the foundations of layout and fit-out architectures. We were keen to establish a solid start point and utilise 3d’s experienced operating guidelines and road maps to ensure that we didn’t make the mistakes that other first time operators often fall in to.  3d’s broad experience has been invaluable “

Gary Hunt, formerly with Fitness First, with extensive experience in the health club operations and start-ups, has been appointed General Manager for The Wellness Centre at The Wave. Gary and his team continue to rely on 3d’s support building the foundations for ISO 9001 integration.
