Mental health is one of the biggest issues in the workplace today, causing over 70 million working days to be lost each year. As well as having a huge impact on individual employees, poor mental health has severe repercussions for employers – including increased staff turnover, sickness absence due to debilitating depression, burnout and exhaustion, decreased motivation and lost productivity.

There are many reasons why mental health has become such a huge issue today, but one factor is that many cases go unrecognised until they become severe. Whilst many employers are now primed to spot signs of physical illness, mental health problems can be more difficult to identify.  So as part of the continued development of the 3d Wellness 360 ‘Mind’ module, we have invested in training in mental health first aid across our corporate division.  We recognise that the relationship between a trainer and a member can be a very strong one, with the instructors becoming a major sounding board and a confidant for the member.  The training provides our team the ability to identify , understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses.

They understand risk factors and warning signs of mental health concerns and can provide basic support for a person with mental injuries, until they receive more advanced help from a dedicated service.

With physical and mental health so inextricably linked we felt it was fundamental to provide our corporate teams with the tools to provide that extra level of support.
