Students and staff at the Wey Valley School have returned from their summer break to brand new state of the art fitness facilities including a fitness studio, gym, spinning room and dance studio.

The new fitness studio will offer a fantastic range of cardio equipment and weights including treadmills, cross trainers, adaptive motion trainers, upright cycles, recumbent cycles, a WATT bike, a functional training rig and a full array of weight resistance kits.

The fitness studio and gym has been delivered on budget and on time in partnership with 3d Health and Fitness, who will manage the school’s sporting facilities after school hours and at weekends, with membership now available for all members of the community.

Paul Dickinson, Business Development Director at 3d, said: “We are delighted with the refurbished fitness studio and the partnership established with the Wey Valley School. A great deal of work has been achieved in a short space of time and we are pleased that students will have the opportunity during PE lessons to enjoy the full range of fitness kit.”

Mr Dickinson added: “Community membership is now available via our website [www. 3dhealthandfitness.co.uk/wey-valley or by phoning 01305 817072] and we are pleased with the uptake already, having recently launched on 12th September.”

Marie Claridge, Head of PE at Wey Valley, is thrilled with the transformation of the PE Department over the summer holidays. Miss Claridge said: “The new facilities will only inspire our students even more to go further with their sporting interests. A healthy heart and healthy mind go hand in hand and I am sure the new facilities will take student and staff fitness to a new level.”

Sara Adams, Principal at Wey Valley, added: “This is another good news story for Wey Valley and the local community. We are fortunate to have a fantastic range of sporting facilities at the school and as a community school and former sports college, we are really pleased that more of the community will be visiting the school to use our facilities.”
