CASE STUDY

Large hotel based leisure club – 1600 members, family based membership
This club had been part of a large national hotel chain with a strong leisure background. Having been acquired by new owners leisure had very much been seen as a secondary part of their business and as a result the club had dropped from 2500 members to 1600 in little over a year.

When the hotel asked us to come on board we found a wide range of issues including de-motivated staff, poorly presented facility, lack of marketing emphasis, poor sales systems and poor control of membership management. We spent the first month just putting some direction into the club and addressing the issues one by one. Through installing our QMS systems we were able to re-train all staff, instill some standards into how the club was presented, produce an annual marketing plan, install a robust sales system and complete a full membership audit.

This club had taken 30 new members the previous January and after our effort the club sold 122 memberships in July! The club continues to see steady membership growth with lower attrition and higher sales meaning that membership has returned to above 2000 within 6 months.
